NGORONGORO
CONSERVATION AREA:
Is
a huge area containing active volcanoes, mountains, archaeological
sites, rolling plains, forests,
lakes, dunes
and ofcourse - Ngorongoro Crater and Olduvai Gorge.
The views at the rim of the Ngorongoro
Crater are sensational. On the crater floor, grassland blends
into swamps, lakes, rivers, woodland and
mountains - all a heaven for wildlife including the densest
predator population in Africa. The crater
is home to up to 2,500 largest mammals.
NGORONGORO
WILDLIFE LODGE
Perched
on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater at 2,286 meters above sea
level (with a 600 m sheer
drop down to the crater floor),
the Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge affords one of the greatest views
of
the crater.
Its
75 rooms are centrally heated, and the lounge features a fireplace
and panoramic windows
which open
on to a terrace serving as an observation deck for the crater
below. The lodge is a
3-hour drive from
Arusha and 90 minutes from Manyara. The airstrip is only a 10-minute
drive away.
NGORONGORO
SOPA LODGE

The
lodge is located on Lemala Hill on the uppermost, eastern rim
of the Ngorongoro Crater, a World
Heritage
Site, in the volcanic highlands of northern Tanzania. The crater
forms part of the
Ngorongoro Conservation
Area which covers 8,300sq kms (3,200 sq. miles).
This
World Heritage Site has been set aside to preserve and integrate
the diverse values and
interests of wildlife,
local people, archaeology, flora, tourism and the area's environment
and
ecology.
The
Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge is, and will remain as , the only tourist
development on the eastern rim
of the
crater and thus offers our guests unique and spectacular views
down into the crater floor
and of the sunsets
over the western horizon. Another major advantage of this site
that our guests
can enjoy is the fact that their
crater safari begins within five minutes of leaving the lodge.
NGORONGORO
SERENA SAFARI LODGE

As
if in a land before time, Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is built
into the rim of a dormant and
collapsed
volcano (known as a caldera), the plant and ivy-covered native
stone blending masterfully
with its surroundings.
Close
by lies the Olduvai Gorge, the "birthplace of man".
Today the volcano and surrounding
landscape are
part of a vast conservation area inhabited by the Masai tribe,
as well as an
extraordinary svariety
of big
game and birdlife.
Most
guest rooms have private terraces with views of the crater floor
where countless animals
make their home. At Ngorongoro Serena
Lodge visitors co-exist in perfect harmony with the natural
environment and
the wildlife that inhabits it.
